Raina Michelle Jensen had an exuberant energy for life, and shared her smile, hugs and laughter with people from far flung corners of the World. Her warmth and zest for life was infectious.
Raina was tragically killed on Thanksgiving Day, November 25th 2010. Raina was a passenger in a car carrying 4 others, when the car was hit by another driver that should never have been on the road. Raina was 27.
Raina had travelled the World. It was at Junior High that Raina’s interest in travel and experiencing other cultures first began. Raina was a member of The Falcons Take Flight Program hosting, and participating in student exchange programmes.
Raina went on to teach in Thailand and work for an award winning cross-cultural tourism project in Northern Fiji – but she always knew where her home was, and that was Portland, Maine.
Raina was a three sport athlete playing softball, basketball and soccer. At Deering High School Raina lettered in both Softball and Basketball. Raina continued her athletic career as a college pitcher for Saint Michaels College in Vermont.
The Raina Jensen Foundation is commited to continue with the energy that Raina shared and to help benefit the communities that Raina worked with.
Development goals for Fiji range from simple provision of school and sports equipment, to providing the funding for school scholarships for island primary students, and those older students who choose to further their education at college in Labasa town, but do not have the finances available to pursue their dreams.
These are the communities that Raina fell in love with and worked closely with in providing education and sports development.
It is our Mission to provide funding and continued assistance to these communities, in order to allow children to continue with their education and sports development, in a step toward further opportunities in their lifetime.
Raina Jensen Foundation welcomes donations from all companies, monetary or gifts, though please contact the Foundation in advance in order to confirm suitability for our aims and goals in Fiji.
If you have any ideas for fundraisers, or feel you can assist in any way, then please contact us.
